8/25/04 – PET Scan Results

Well, praise God, we didn't have to wait very long for these results! We are once again rejoicing in the faithfulness of our God!

The PET scan did not detect any abnormalities. In other words, they found nothing to indicate that I have cancer anywhere! There were no areas that lit up in my whole body. So, that is a HUGE answer to prayer.

Now, that doesn't mean that I don't have to have chemo. All of the scans in the world wouldn't tell us if there is any residual microscopic disease. So, chemo is the best way to make sure that all cancer cells are destroyed. It will be hard, but knowing the statistics of having chemo vs. not having chemo makes it an easy decision.

Today was a whirlwind of appointments. The PET scan was at 6:30am, Amanda got her braces on at 9:00, I had another oncology appointment at 2:30 and then saw the plastic surgeon at 4:15. Colby had soccer practice at 5:30 and we just got home after having dinner at my inlaws, who helped us juggle this crazy day by taking care of the kids. Phew! We're exhausted! So, for those of you who left messages on our phone (we had a lot!), I hope you will see this message tonight and understand why I didn't get back to you yet! I think we'll try to go to bed early and try to resist watching the Olympics!

Again, your encouragement has been so wonderful and I can almost physically feel you all lifting me up to God in your prayers. You are such a blessing to all of us.

I'll leave you with another awesome verse that I love. It's Psalm 22:24 – For He has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; He has not hidden His face from him, but has listened to his cry for help.

He's listening and answering!
Stephanie
