11/22/04 – Prayer Request
Well, today was a bit disappointing. I went in for my treatment and my blood count was down too far to give me chemo today. So, I had to have a shot of a white cell booster (Neupogen) and will have to give myself two more this week. Then, I will go back next Monday to see how it is working and hopefully have my treatment. This will put me another week past the finish line of January 24. My last treatment will now be January 31 if everything else goes as planned. It also makes me extremely succeptible to any kind of infection, flu, or cold.
Apparently, the white cell count doesn't necessarily make you feel sick if you are low. This past week, I was feeling so good that this news really shocked me. I had so much energy beginning on Thursday because I had started to take iron to help my red cell count. The weird thing is that even my red cell count was down from where it was last week. That is typically the most likely side effect for the chemo I am on now and I was really anemic last Monday, so I'm even worse right now.
The other side effects I am experiencing are occasional bone/joint pain and fatigue. Also, I have had a little bit of tingling in my hands and feet, but it doesn't happen very often. Still, these side effects are NOTHING compared to the nausea of the first phase!
So, I would like to ask for prayers especially for my blood cell counts to come up so that treatment doesn't have to be delayed. The most effective treatment is one that doesn't have any breaks, so this is a little scary for me.
Also, please pray that I will not catch any of the yucky stuff going around right now. That could send my count down so far I could end up in the hospital.
