11/10/04 – Things are looking up!

Well, I come to this update with more good news than I've had in awhile!

I had my first treatment of Herceptin and Taxol on Monday. These drugs both have risks, but the side effects have so far proven to be very minimal. During the administration of these drugs, there are immediate risks, such as a severe allergic reaction or heart problems. Because of this, they pre-medicated me heavily and watched me closely to make sure I wouldn't have a reaction. Because I didn't have any problems, it makes the rest of the treatments less risky. I was pretty drugged when I was done with the treatment. Since then, I have not had any side effects other than being very tired. I will take that over nausea any day, so things are definitely looking up!

We welcomed 7 black lab puppies to our home last Thursday. They are so sweet and definitely purebred. They all look alike right now. It was a really great experience and we all got to watch them coming into the world. It has given us a renewed appreciation for the instincts that God built into His creation. Abby is the best little mommy and has settled into her routine quite nicely. If anyone has an interest in a Christmas puppy, please let us know. They will be ready to go on Christmas Eve! Now, if that's not a clear gift from God, I don't know what is!

I'm feeling very positive about the coming months. I know that it's still a rough road ahead, but it is looking a lot more manageable with the way I'm feeling today and yesterday.
